The story begins in an ancient convent in southern Italy – where a nun has devoted her life to prayer, serving the poor and living in absolute simplicity. Sister Maria Benedetta, a Catholic nun beloved by the local community for her charity and humility, suddenly suffers a massive heart attack while praying in the convent’s small chapel.
The other nuns immediately call for help, but when the ambulance arrives, doctors confirm that she has gone into cardiac arrest. Her heart stopped beating for nearly 12 minutes – medically speaking, she is dead. But what happens next will shock the convent and, later, the world.
When she wakes up in the hospital a few hours later, Sister Maria is not the same. Her eyes are deep, her voice is full of emotion and her hands are shaking as she holds the hand of the priest who is called to her side. The first thing she said was not a word of thanks for being alive – but a warning: “Jesus wept… and humanity is at the brink of an abyss!”
Since then, Sister Maria’s testimony has become a global phenomenon. According to her, when her heart stopped beating, her spirit left her body, flying through a dark corridor where she felt countless souls lost, wailing and screaming in the darkness. She said it was not hell – but a place for souls who have never known mercy and have chosen to turn away from the light.
Then she was enveloped in a brilliant white light and met an unmistakable image – Jesus himself, standing in a pool of light with a look of such sadness that she could not contain herself. “He was not angry,” she said, “but heartbroken. I have never seen such divine sadness in his eyes.”

Jesus looked at her and said, “Go back, my daughter, and tell them: I loved humanity with all my heart, but many have forgotten me, mock me, and live as if I had not been crucified for them.”
She was shown horrifying images: cities filled with sin, wars, abortion, indifference to the poor, and falsehoods throughout the Church. She saw religious leaders no longer preaching the truth, afraid of losing power. She saw young people fascinated by nonsense and turning their backs on the sacred. “I saw millions of souls approaching the abyss,” Sister Maria recounted, “and with just one more gust of wind, they would fall forever.”
Jesus gave her a message, an urgent mission:
"Tell the world that the time of mercy is drawing to a close. Come back to me while you still can. I do not want to lose any souls, but they are the ones who choose that path. Pray the Rosary, repent and love. Do not wait until it is too late."
Sister Maria also said that she was shown a spiritual timetable – a “clock of the soul,” where there were only moments left before what she called the “great purification” would take place. She did not specify the exact time, but said it was very close. “I saw a world covered in darkness, but then the light of a small group of people praying spread – that was the last hope.”
After her return from the dead, Sister Maria was completely changed. She no longer lived in seclusion, but traveled everywhere sharing her message – from churches to schools, from convents to Catholic television programs. Although many people doubted, the faith and peace in her words made many people ponder.
When asked if she was afraid of death after experiencing it, she simply smiled and said:
"No, I am not afraid of death. I am afraid of dying without being ready. I am afraid of dying without telling others that God is still waiting for them to return."
Sister Maria's story is shocking because it is not a gentle consolation - but a stern warning. She does not preach ease, but the urgency of repentance, a return to the true faith, and God's mercy. What shocked many people was that someone like her - a nun who had lived her whole life in consecration - was still warned by God that there were many things that needed to be renewed in her soul. If a virtuous person like her had to be so humble before God, how many people are living in the illusion of security?
Sister Maria’s testimony reaches not only Catholics, but also atheists, those who have lost their faith, priests struggling with their vocations, and those living in sin but yearning for salvation. Her message is simple yet powerful: “Jesus is weeping. And we need to turn back – now.”
