Jake Paul Admits Fan Backlash Worry If He Knocks Mike Tyson Out But Vows To Do It Anyway
Paul knows that the fans will come after him whether he wins or loses.
During a recent episode of his BS with Jake Paul podcast, the boxer spoke about his upcoming clash with Mike Tyson and whether he is worried about his public perception.
Some would argue that Paul now finds himself in a lose-lose situation in this fight.
Whilst it is undeniably a huge event, a loss to Tyson would seemingly derail his boxing career by being beaten by a fighter that is twice his age and has long been retired.

Even a win against a figure that is as respected as "Iron" Mike will surely see Paul get criticism for taking the fight in the first place, amplified massively by him knocking out a 58-year old legend of combat sports.
Paul admitted on the podcast that he is concerned about how people will react if he stops Tyson but in his mind, he can't let what people will think affect him or his actions.

"I think it's a win-win. They could hate me, they could love me. If I put my happiness to be dependent on an audience, then it's a co-dependent relationship and co-dependent relationships aren't good.
If I'm relying on an audience to like me for my satisfaction then I will never be happy unless they like me, so that means I'll do things to make them like me."

Paul also made a point to talk about how his clash with Tyson in Texas ended up being sanctioned as a pro fight and therefore opening up the possibility of someone being knocked out.
He said that whilst people will be quick to berate him when he gets his hand raised, it was his opponent that decided to push this fight into that next level of intensity and risk.
"They're just going to say he's old and you disrespected him and all that s*** but I just want to make it clear, Mike Tyson was the one who wanted it to be a pro fight. Mike got into training camp and called up people on my team and were like 'let's do a pro fight, is Jake down?',
Netflix was like 'let's make it a pro fight, we're down' and I said to Nakisa [Bidarian], if that's what Mike wants then that's fine but make sure you tell Mike that there's no holding back.
Whatever happens, happens and this is war now and if Mike's okay with that, then I'm okay with that but I want Mike to be the one making this decision."
Paul said that with this in mind, now that Tyson was the one to put this forward and not the other way around, he is gunning for the knockout.
"But yes, I'm going in there and now it's a pro fight, it's on my record, and I'm going to f****** put him down and if people are p***** about it, then watch soccer."
